The MBA is pleased to release initial Pennant Side Listings for Season 2022/23. The side listings will also be published on the MBA web site here.
As in past years there are likely to be some changes to the draws before the start of the season. These occur because Member clubs advise us of the addition or withdrawal of sides. Although this normally only affects a few Sections, we recommend that clubs wait a week or two before producing and distributing schedules for their sides.
We would like to finalise the Draw for the start of the season by Monday 26th September.
Side Rankings
Where clubs have more than one side in a Division, these sides are selected in descending order of ability and are designated Red, White and Blue, with Red being the highest ranked side. For clubs in this situation, Match & Program Committee has allocated preliminary ranking colours. Clubs that wish to change the ranking order (colour) of those sides will need to advise us in writing (MBAmatchcommittee@metrobowls.com.au) by Monday 26th of September.
Thursday Pennants
There were not enough sides nominated for Thursday Division 4 (2 rink) to make a viable competition, so we have had discussions with all the clubs involved to find an alternative solution. The end result is that some of the clubs have found sufficient players to make up to a 3 rink side. These sides have been added to Division 3. We thank these clubs for their assistance and understanding.
We currently have 33 sides in Thursday Division 3 (with a Bye). If any club has additional players and wants to nominate a 3 rink side into any Thursday Division 3 Section to absorb the Bye please contact us as soon as possible (MBAmatchcommittee@metrobowls.com.au).
Wednesday Pennants
We currently have a Bye in Division 4. If any club has additional players and wants to nominate a 3 rink side into any Wednesday Division 4 Section to absorb the Bye please contact us as soon as possible (MBAmatchcommittee@metrobowls.com.au).
Pennant Structure
The MBA Match & Program committee will continue to apply its policy of returning the structure of the Wednesday competition Division 3 to four Sections of 10 sides each. It is intended that a similar policy will be applied to elements of the Saturday competition from this season onwards.
Venue swaps
Clubs that have individual requests for venue changes due to short-term impairments of their own facilities are asked to contact opposition clubs individually.
If there are any questions regarding the above or further clarification required, please contact MBA Match & Program committee (MBAmatchcommittee@metrobowls.com.au)
