Season 2023 2024 Pennant Side Listings

Pennant Side Listings for Season 2023/24

The MBA is pleased to release preliminary Pennant Side Listings for Season 2023/24. The Side Listings will also be published on the MBA web site here.

As in past years there are likely to be some changes to the Draws before the start of the season. These occur because Member clubs advise us of the addition or withdrawal of sides. Although this normally only affects a few Sections, we recommend that clubs wait a week or two before producing and distributing schedules for their sides.

We would like to finalise the Draw for the start of the season by Monday 25th September. Changes in circumstances occurring in clubs prior to then will be accommodated into the Draw wherever possible.

Thursday Pennants

There were not enough sides nominated for Thursday Division 4 (2 rink sides) to make a viable competition, so we have had discussions with all the clubs involved to find an alternative solution. The end result is that some of the clubs have found sufficient players to make up to

a 3 rink side and other clubs have combined their players. These sides have been added to Division 3. We thank these clubs for their assistance and understanding.

Saturday Pennants

We currently have a Bye in Division 7. If any club has additional players and wants to nominate a 3 rink side into Saturday Division 7 to absorb the Bye, please contact MBA Match & Program committee as soon as possible

Wednesday Pennants

We currently have a Bye in Division 4. If any club has additional players and wants to nominate a 3 rink side into Wednesday Division 4 to absorb the Bye please contact MBA Match & Program committee as soon as possible.

Side Names/ Side Rankings

For this season, the side names being used have a number added to indicate ranking

within the club, with “1” indicating the highest rank etc.

Where clubs have more than one side in a Division, the side number for each side in that Division will indicate their descending order of ability for selection purposes (Rule 3.7).

For clubs in this situation, Match & Program Committee has mostly allocated ranking numbers to sides based on previous seasons. Clubs that wish to reassign ranking numbers to their sides in a Division will need to advise MBA Match & Program committee by email by Monday 25th of September.

Pennant Structure

The MBA Match & Program committee has continued to apply its policy of returning the structure of Division 6 of the Saturday competition to four Sections of 10 sides each.

Venue swaps

Clubs that have individual requests for venue changes due to short-term issues at their own facilities are asked to contact opposition clubs individually and to inform MBA Match & Program committee of changes as soon as possible.

If there are any questions regarding the above or further clarification required, please contact MBA Match & Program committee (MBAmatchcommittee@metrobowls.com.au)
